Katie’s Story

April 21, 1989 – June 4, 2006
On the morning of May 30, 2006, Katie Bolka was on her way to Ursuline Academy of Dallas to complete her final exams. She was the second or third car to go through an intersection proceeding west that morning just a few blocks from school after waiting for a green light. Suddenly, a 90 year old woman traveling north at a very high rate of speed continued through the same intersection disregarding the traffic light that had been red for nearly 24 seconds. The elderly driver struck Katie on her driver side door causing fatal injuries to her.
Although Katie fought valiantly to live, her struggle ended on June 4, 2006.
